What testing does ARL offer?

We test a wide variety of samples for a range of different solutions. Please refer to the Sectors on this web site, and see if we offer the tests you require.

ARL is accredited by NATA for most of the tests we carry out. Details can be found HERE.

In some cases, we can specifically design and carry out tests to meet a unique client test requirement.

What testing do I need?

Often a customer will call unsure of what tests are required. It is important for ARL to understand why the testing is needed, so that the correct testing to meet your needs is done at the best price.

Is ARL an independent laboratory?

ARL is fully independent. We are a privately owned Australian company.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday: 7.30am – 5.00pm

We can usually arrange to receive samples outside these times if necessary – please give us a call.

How much does ARL charge for tests?

ARL prices are set depending on the type of test, the urgency, the number of tests, the reporting limits, and other factors.

ARL can provide a written quote for specific client requirements, which will detail all prices, the required amount of the sample and preservation requirements. We can provide you with appropriately preserved sample bottles at no additional charge.

ARL generally does not add extra charges often levied by other laboratories such as batch fees, administrative fees, surcharges, sample holding fees, bottle / container fees, or report fees.

ARL prices include the costs of meeting all quality assurance requirements, including laboratory control samples, matrix spikes, duplicates and surrogates where required.

Where should I deliver the samples for testing by ARL?

Most of the samples that ARL tests are delivered to our laboratory at:

Guidance on the containers or bottles for samples can be found HERE on our electronic bottle order form. Please ensure that any Asbestos (or suspected) samples that are delivered to the lab are double bagged and properly sealed.

Does ARL carry out sampling for clients?

Yes, for air and dust materials. It is essential that sampling is carried out properly to ensure that it is representative. If clients require this service, ARL can send out qualified technical personnel to sample specific air and dust materials on site, in accordance with agreed sampling protocols and guidelines.

Does ARL hire out equipment for sampling?

Yes. A comprehensive range of air quality monitoring equipment is available for hire. Please contact us for details.

I am an international client, can I use ARL?

Yes. We regularly receive samples from many overseas countries. We can provide assistance with all aspects of importing samples into Australia, including quarantine, customs and biosecurity clearance.

ARL is a Quarantine Approved Premises under Section 46A of the Quarantine Act 1908. ARL has import permits for soil, water, foodstuffs and biological samples.

What happens to my sample once analysis is complete?

Samples are stored in a purpose built storage facility. They are stored for a predefined period of time depending upon the sample type.

What type of sample container do I need to send my sample to the laboratory?

We can advise you on the amount of material you need to sample, and provide you with appropriately preserved sample bottles at no additional charge. Please refer to our ARL Bottle order forms found HERE or contact us.

Can I get my results electronically?

Results can be made available in electronic or paper copy. ARL can also offer an online reporting service, with these results available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our Client Login / On line Results system.

How do I interpret the way my report is set out?

If you would like some help with the way in which your report is formatted and the results are expressed, please contact us.

How do I interpret my results?

If you would like some help with the interpretation of the results you may need to seek the assistance of a specialist in this area. We are able to refer you to an appropriate specialist. As an independent laboratory we are not actively involved in the interpretation of results.

Are my reports stored securely?

All reports and the raw data used to produce the results in them are stored electronically in our purpose built Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This has been designed to ensure that all results and data are stored safely and securely at all times.

What turnaround times can ARL provide?

ARL delivers results to meet agreed customer needs. On receipt of the samples, we will agree TATs with you, which generally vary from 3-10 days depending on the type of tests and reporting required.

What is a reporting limit?

A reporting limit is the lowest possible level that we can reliably and accurately measure something.
